As you have seen and read thoughout these blogs, Unite for Rights is not an epiphany, it is the continuation of a plan for humanity after 100 million people were killed during WWII. The plan is to establish the rule of law in all countries through an International Bill of Rights that will prevent another such atrocity.
Five of the key people for the development of this plan are the following: Eleanor Roosevelt, United States; John Humphrey, Canada, Rene Cassin, France, P.C. Chang, China and Charles Malik, Lebanon
Eleanor Roosevelt, as the Chair of the Human Rights Commission that drafted the “International Bill of Rights” (which they all called it) worked with, and was close to, all of these multinational people.
You can see pictures of Eleanor with each of these people in a booklet that has been prepared for the nonprofit “Eleanor Lives” www.eleanorlives.org
It is a flipbook and you can easily turn pages to see Eleanor with each of them. Eleanor and P.C. Chang pg. 2; Eleanor and Rene Cassin, pg. 8; Eleanor and John Humphrey, pg. 15; Eleanor and Charles Malik, pg. 34.
The text with the pictures tells of a “plan for humanity” culminating with this iconic photo:
Unfortunately, the plan told in the booklet has been allowed to go fallow. There are many reasons for this. After WWI, there was an effort to create a League of Nations so the WWI would be the “war to end all wars.” Its plan was never fully implemented, then came WWII.
After WWII, there was an effort, discussed above, to create an International Bill of Rights so that “never again” would there be the killing of millions of citizens by a government and world war. That plan too has never been fully implemented.
The dreadful possibilities humanity now faces, athoritarian rule and war, are obvious and increasing. The goal of Unite for Rights is to revive the post WWII plan before it is too late, as happened after WWI.
To do this, Unite faciltates (as discussed in previous blogs) an international social movement. Unite’s four figure brand represents this movement:Unite is a movement to carry out the plan described in Eleanor Lives! For this reason, the two nonprofits are independent, but complimentary, partners.
For those most interested in the historical foundation of an International Bill of Rights, there is Eleanor Lives!; for those most interested in a movement to futher “humanity’s agreement to live together”, including building an international judicial architecture upon the historical foundation, there is Unite for Rights.
When you join others on the globe at Eleanor Lives, or on the globe at Unite for Rights, you appear on the same globe. We are building upon the past to make our way forward. This is what Article 28 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights intended – that a future document would be created that would be enforceable in the courts of all countries so that fundamental rights would be “fully realized” for all people in all countries. Let us not repeat our post WWI mistakes, and implement the post WWII plan.
We welcome you to work with us in any way that you find most interesting! Whatever that might be, the first step is to get on the globe – we’ll see you there and on we go.
